So this is it then.
The end of a year.
The end of a decade.
The end of this blooming list.

These final two songs have caused the most damage to my desk chairs, as well as a few smashed glasses, countless cigarette burns and the near death of my docking station one particularly rowdy night.

Posted only last month, my number two has barely left my side during these cold winter months. I have been known to have it on repeat for days on end, seriously!
When you draw comparisons with the original, it's remarkable what Russ Chimes has done with Marina & The Diamonds' 'Mowgli's Road'. He's discarded all the wacky harpsichords, glockenspiels and excess jingle-jangle clutter and layered sumptuous, sun-drenched synths over Marina's bohemian vocals. Everything comes together beautifully in this remix; the climatic final 70 seconds is pure perfection.
It's no surprise really; Russ is never a letdown. He's produced some incredible remixes this year including Fabian's 'Heatwave', Frankmusik's 'Confusion Girl' and The Golden Filters' 'Solid Gold' to name obvious stunners. I'd argue, however, that this is Russ' finest work to date.

One life with one dream on repeat.

You Go Giiirlfrieeeend!

Hello again. I'll skip past the small talk and rhetorical questions for now and crack straight on with what you might be here for.

It's no hidden secret that the girls in the industry have been (attempting some up-to-date music blog terminology here) killing it recently. It's true, Bath & North East Somerset council have, for the past month, refused to collect the bins outside Club XL as they are too full (with "Cheryl Cole pleeeeeeeeease!!!!" request slips, most of which were probably written by yours truely). Who remembers Lily Allen? Kate Nash? La Roux? Little Boots even? Even the flamingo-esque Florence and her, somewhat, absent machine is gathering dust on the top shelf of Fearne Cotton's bureau.

We all know the Recycling strapline: "Reduce. Reuse. Recycle." I can see it now; Lily and a giant rat that looks suspiciously like Kate Nash fighting over a rotten piano, with The Red One and Florence in the foreground, desperately clawing through the landfill rubble for hair dye. From the ashes sprouts two gems of blonde and brunette respectively.

Probably the coolest girl you'll ever meet, golden haired Ellie Goulding has an irresistible and almost Scandinavian style of singing, lying somewhere beautifully between Bjork and Lykke Li. That would mean she's from the Faroe Islands. No she's not, she's a country mouse turned city mouse, who hangs out and goes to the pub with very cool producers in the east end. I find her debut single 'Under The Sheets' distressing only for the reason that I can't understand why any blokes would want to kill her under her sheets. Mate, you're in her bed.

As if to make matters worse for poor little Ellie, dubstep rookie Jakwob has come along AGAIN and thrown a load of mud in her face. Rich, fertile mud.

I'm a brunette man, me. Marina & The Diamonds is right up my street, she's lovely she is. She also happens to be mates with Ellie as they've both signed on the dotted line of Neon Gold, a label to look out for over the next 12 months. Marina's style veers away from the twisty path of Regina Spektor, drives through the cobbled street of Florence & The Machine and beyond. This song proves that she does not need any machines (only diamonds) to produce incredible sounds.

Look, so we've got gorgeous girls like Ellie and Marina hanging round town at the moment, but as tempting as it may seem I only have eyes for one. I have and always will be madly in love with Russ Chimes. Once again he has made feel like a giddy school girl with this (I don't care I'm going to swear now it's so good) fucking ridiculously addictive remix of Marina's newer track. I'm off for a Tommy.
