rolling in the deep villa remix

Oh wow what a day for news. John Barry (composer for eleven James Bond films) died of a heart attack, Andy Carroll has been sold to Liverpool for just a mere 35 million squid and the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS - mega pun points lolololollllllroflcopter!!!!!) revealed today that male breast reduction operations have increased by 28% in the last 12 months. It's a relief to know other blokes are going through it too. How about we all collectively bob up and down to Villa's disco remix of busty Adele and her brilliant 'Rolling in the Deep'? Goggles on aaaaaaaand play!

cosmonaut grechko

Is anyone else a bit of a sucker for glockenspiels? I feel like a mesmerised, dribbling toddler whenever I hear Tchaikovsky's 'Sugar Plum Fairy' or Radiohead's 'No Surprises'. Cosmonaut Grechko's delicate remix of YYY's Maps is so angelic and full of innocence I feel like I need to wear a nappy whilst listening to it.

As with everyones mailbox, spam is an issue. Here at the Gooch, as much as we love hardcore skank metal, we are not going to post it...or are we not going to buy 3 tubs of tesco's finest viagra from pflizer online (Even as much as we need it in the occasions of Mr Flopsy...right lads!?...)Ha. But every now and again, real treats get delivered to us. And I am proud to be one of the first to bring you a right corker, a bobby dazzler.

Filtering through the mailbox, I stumbled upon 'Cruel Cassette'. London based, Cruel Cassette brings us some of the freshest sounds I've heard of recent times. The tune 'Lion' is quite frankly, incredible, and when it hits 0.53, the listener is surrounded in warpy, emotive hole surrounded in echoes. This is the kind of music that would be made if Tron was based in Jamaica (as bizarre as you think that analagy might be). Mr Cassette apparently uses cut up unlabled tapes from markets and his collection of mid-80s drum machines to create his tunes, and in my opinion, it really makes it stand out from the crowd. You really need to check this out. - Oh, and apparently Cruel Cassette's artwork for this tune was made by Japayork, who apparently heard the song and had the urge draw something impromptu! Thank god this tune doesn't remind us of porno music, otherwise it would have been a very different picture. Big up Cruel Cassette ! Large things to come.

Cruel Cassette - Lion

Wednesday, 19 January 2011 I might still post some dubstep...

...Only if it's really good though! And this is. Just because it's Sigma's debut dubstep release. And of course, Fenech Solar. I can't resist. I can imagine having a good time in a dirthole club somewhere listen to this. Neato. Really neato. Absolutely neato.

Fenech Solar - Demons (Sigma Remix)

I just knocked up this little track yesturday. 2step Vibe included.

Perfect for your sunday.

Alright there chaps. Working in a pub you forget what a weekend is, it just becomes a blur of spilling London Pride, stealing the cheeky half pint of Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter, (since we have the random barrell of it in our cellar which I think McMess has sent me personally from his shitty end of the woods) perving on the smoking hot cougars who come in, and flirting outrageously with their daughters. It's full of A grade posh talent. However, I just don't know if it my pub's 'Lounge versions of tunes from the last 2 decades' playlist that they have on, which actually includes this absolute BANGER cover....

....but my taste's have definitely changed. And as much as McMess may try to cover the Gooch in future with the Dubstep drivel which I heard aaaages ago (schhsch), that's just not me anymore. So, here's some treats for sunday, that if you've had a banging night and you are feeling a little fragile, listening to these won't send you rushing to the toilet for the 9th time...or reaching for the pint glass next to the bed to simply fill it up with the remnants of last night's extra large doner kebab (hold the curry sauce, pile on the mayo). You get me?

Kick off with a nice easy one. How can you not like this? Magical. Shame he fiddled kids.....Uh-Oh, it's the man, MJ!
Michael Jackson - Butterflies (A Sides Remix)

Mutt, real name Sean Roman, is a boyo I've been following for a while now and his contribution to the dance music scene is big, going through dub, house and DnB. With Mutt's DnB, he has an neato way of picking samples and a creating nice warm environment through his synths and non-in your face drums patterns. Ergo, this release.
Mutt - Kush Talk

You know that beautiful tune by big boy DnB artist 'S.P.Y' called 'By Your Side'. Not want the 2 minute intro when you're dropping it in a club? Logistics have the answer.
S.P.Y - By Your Side (Logistics Remix)

And finally, a lovely lady gave me a CD with some every tune a banger (thank you). This popped on randomly this morning, and my Mum came in and commended me on my music taste. About fucking time.
David Bowie - Lady Grinning Soul

Peas out Bruvvas.

what's that stench?

A couple of weeks ago Denzi made an outrageous comment which stated that he would no longer be posting any dubstep on this blog of ours: "...for me, I'm marking 2010 as the year which dubstep died..." The bloke is my best mate and I love him to bits, but something tells me he'll be eating his words within the next couple of months. If not he'll be eating my knuckles, don't worry I got your back dubheads.
So it looks like, for now, the responsibility of posting dubstep and pushing our Facebook friends number into four figures lies with silly old electro-dweeb me.

For a while I honestly thought "Stenchman" was a household nickname for Denzi. But then I did a bit of research and discovered that Stenchman appears to be Dover's answer to Leatherface.

april o'taco

Oh hello, I almost forgot about this little blog with me having a job these days. I hope you're all well? Answers on a postcard.

Before we get down to the nitty gritty I should probably mention at this point that the above picture has absolutely nothing to do with the music you are about to hear. I think it's actually meant to be a taco made out of pubic hair and deformed body parts, containing what looks like black grapes? I was going to have a picture of April O'Neil from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as we now share the same lifestyle (although I don't fuck quite as many rats/turtles/Shredders). I must lead an incredibly sad life if the highlight of my day is finding a picture of a taco after typing 'April O'Neil' into Google.

Here are some songs that are keeping my delirious carcass moving this evening.

One year to the End of the World... I'm not wasting my time posting anymore dubstep. For me, I'm marking 2010 as the year which dubstep died. Don't get me wrong, there is still some banging stuff out there, but I just can't hack how much shit there is now. I want 2011 to be more sexy, more mellow. I've had enough of dicks moshing to dubstep in clubs, it's not what it's about. You get me? Good. With that in mind......happy new year! Let's hope it brings lot's of prosperity to you all.

So afew things I stumbled over yesturday. Number one, I found this neat little remix of the classic (we can all vouch for that) of 'Nas is Like' by DnB sloggers 'Camo and Krooked'. Very tasteful. This is a very welcoming injection of DnB on this tune.

Nas is Like - Nas (Came and Krooked)

Next, Hailing from Indianapolis of all places, it's a guy called 'Dave Owen'. After listening to about 10 of his tracks, I've discovered this guy is an absolute genius. Liquid Jazz DnB at it's finest. This is what I'm welcoming in 2011. Beautiful, sexy music; no more metallic sounds of a steel bouncy ball in an oven.

Dave Owen - Feeling Kinda Blue

(The sample comes from this wicked little hip hop banger if you're wondering):

And last as a cheeky rascal new year bonus. I never heard the original of this song, but I can guess this remix is much better. Solid. Warm synths, with a lovely euphoric DnB buzz. 'Ave some. Liquiladed presents.

Kylie Minogue - Chocolate (Liquiladed Remix)

Peas guys! Hope you all get laid afew times in 2011 before the world ends.
