15 - 11

Above is the controversial and largely rejected album artwork for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy: Kanye West's fifth studio album. Climbing out of the auto-tune trough this record not only breathes a sigh of relief but then takes that same breath away. Produced in fine detail and vocally featuring a seemingly endless list of big names, Kanye follows up from where 2007's Graduation left off; spitting (and even singing for real!) his raw indulgence through a gripping book of 13 dramatic chapters. Having already released 'Power', 'Runaway' and 'Monster', a fourth single (pencilled in for release on 21st February) has been confirmed and, thankfully, it's my favourite track off the album.

15. Kanye West - All of the Lights

"TERTRE ROOOOOUUUUUGE!" Frosty shouts at me outside the club at 2.30am on Christmas Day. Sadly it wasn't being played at the time - it was merely an unexpected, merry outburst expressing his fondness for Russ Chimes' part-2-on-the-Midnight-Club-EP track. I think "Happy Christmas" might have been a more appropriate exclamation but no, instead we continued to wake up the whole town by singing everyone's favourite festive carol 'Targa'.

14. Russ Chimes - Tertre Rouge

Throughout the year the number 1 spot has changed countless times as newer tracks were released and overplayed on my iTunes. As we all know set rips, MySpace rips, Youtube rips and the dreaded phone camera rips are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. But sometimes, due to desperation, you have no other option but to do it and then try and convince yourself that what you have is actually a pretty good copy, when in fact it's just Rick Astley again.

I felt so hollow and deprived. Never do it to dubstep. Flattening the meat and bass of dubstep through a rip is like sewing up a vagina.
The day Denzi played me the full bodied 320 of number thirteen I practically raped him. I was convinced it was the best remix of the year and, in hindsight, I don't think I was far off.

13. Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (Borgore Remix)

Barely three weeks of 2010 had passed before I loudly and ostentatiously announced to my housemates that Russ Chimes' remix of Starry Eyed was the hands-down champion of the year. This track became an anthem in the house, inducing epic air pianos on a nightly basis throughout this year. Wow, it still gets me every time.

12. Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Russ Chimes Remix)

Who do I most want to see live? Carte Blanche. I've seen both DJ Mehdi and Riton live respectively, but together playing their own material... I'd be in danger of over-revving my engine and blowing out big time. Thought the blinking and smiling games were a bit challenging? Try not moving any body parts during the 4 minutes of In The Mix. It's impossible.

11. Carte Blanche - In The Mix
